"Any Pro Bono Brawl Should Be For More Access To Justice"

On Jan. 17, 2014, Law360 reported on potential pro bono fisticuffs in New York: "Pro Bono Privacy Brawl Brewing At Upcoming NY Bar Summit." The article reported on concerns raised by some lawyers about mandatory reporting of pro bono hours and charitable contributions, and the potential that those reports would be made public. 

The authors of this article believe these concerns are exaggerated, for the reasons given in this article. However, the January 17th article raises a separate issue that merits deeper discussion:The disadvantages faced by small firms and solo practitioners — as compared to colleagues at large law firms — in providing pro bono services.
