"NYC Campaign Finance Board Adds New Penalties (and Increases Others) in Updated Penalty Guidelines"

Although the New York City 2013 election is concluded, the government agency that regulates campaign activity – the New York City Campaign Finance Board – recently published Penalty Guidelines for the election, announcing the baseline penalty amounts for forty common violations of New York City's campaign finance law.  The Penalty Guidelines add several new penalties for violations of rules that were not enforced in previous elections and significantly increases penalties for certain other violations.

This Stroock Special Bulletin highlights these revisions and examines their applicability to candidates, treasurers and campaigns.
