“Judging Judges: When Appearance Matters”
We live in an age in which the judiciary has come under increasing scrutiny.
It has always been perfectly appropriate – perhaps even a duty — to question the legal correctness of decisions issued by judges, whether we are the “victim” of a bad decision, or simply a third party observer, critic or commentator.
But now, increasingly, the focus has moved to the ethics of certain judges — meaning, the “appearance” of these judges even having sat on some cases, and the manner in which they conducted themselves both on and off the bench, during or even before the decision making process. Probably something to think about in the new year.
