Stroock Partner Steven W. Rabitz Receives Burton Award for Legal Writing
New York, NY, April 22, 2015 -- Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, a national law firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Washington, DC, announced that partner Steven W. Rabitz received a Burton Award for legal writing. Mr. Rabitz is one of 35 winners chosen from the nominations submitted by the nation's top 1,000 law firms.
Mr. Rabitz was awarded the honor for his article titled "DOL Re-Opens Brokerage Window Inquiry: Will It Clear the Air or Leave Participants in 'Pane'?" which was originally published in Pensions & Investments Daily. The article examined the DOL’s 2012 field bulletin and August 2014 request for information, and the potential implications for plan sponsors, participants and other market participants.
Mr. Rabitz concentrates in the fiduciary responsibility, prohibited transaction and funding rules of ERISA, the tax, securities and other legal considerations associated with executive and other incentive compensation, and the rules applicable to the design, implementation and ongoing operation of retirement, health and other benefits. He advises broker-dealers, investment managers and other financial market participants on the ERISA (and related) considerations associated with the structuring, developing and offering of financial products and services, and also represents both public and private companies on a wide variety of compensation and benefit-related matters, including cross-border related considerations.
The Burton Awards, established in 1999, is funded by the Burton Foundation, a non-profit, academic effort devoted to recognizing and rewarding excellence in the legal profession. The Burton Awards was established to honor the finest accomplishments in law, including writing, reform, public service and interest, regulatory innovation, and lifetime achievements in the profession.
