Stroock Advises in Merger of Natural Gas Utilities
New York, NY (January 3, 2012)…National law firm Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP served as counsel for the merger of two Natural Gas utilities in Missouri.
Missouri Gas Utility, Inc. acquired Southern Missouri Natural Gas in the merger. The combined company has been renamed Summit Natural Gas of Missouri, Inc. The transaction value was not disclosed. In a related transaction, Stroock also represented Summit Natural Gas as the borrower under a working capital facility with a bank syndicate.
Summit Natural Gas provides natural gas service to customers in portions of Northwestern, Central, and Southwestern Missouri, including Branson and Lebanon. The company currently serves over 11,000 customers and continues to add areas that currently are not served by a natural gas utility. Construction has recently begun on the company’s Lake of the Ozarks project.
