Julia Strickland Named as Top Woman Litigator for Fifth Time by the Los Angeles Daily Journal
Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, a leading national law firm with offices in Los Angeles, New York and Miami, announced that partner Julia Strickland has again been selected by the Los Angeles Daily Journal as one of the Top 100 Women Litigators in California.
Ms. Strickland's practice focuses on the defense of class actions and other complex commercial actions brought against a multitude of companies in a wide range of industries, including banking and financial services, investment banks, real estate development, retail stores, manufacturers and food services.
Ms. Strickland's clients in the financial sector include American Express, JPMorgan Chase, HSBC, Citibank, Discover Bank, TransUnion, Sallie Mae and others. Ms. Strickland's expertise includes negotiating complex settlement agreements in class action cases, where the rights of millions of consumers may be affected. She recently negotiated major nationwide settlements for HSBC and JPMorgan Chase relating to tax refund loans; for TransUnion relating to credit reporting of debts discharged in bankruptcy; and for Citibank relating to termination of a credit card rebate program. Ms. Strickland's skills also extend to responding to government inquiries and in 2008, Ms. Strickland successfully concluded settlements of multiple attorney general investigations for various clients.
Ms. Strickland is a member of the Firm's National Executive Committee and has played a central role in development of the firm's Los Angeles office.
