Stanford University Law School’s Federalist Society chapter invited Judge Stuart Duncan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit to speak, knowing his particularly conservative views. Students protested his right to speak at all, not simply his positions or judicial philosophy but part of a broader anti-democratic and anti-free speech pattern on university campuses that suppresses free speech.
