Press Release

New York City, July 28, 2021 – On the heels of several years of lateral growth and strategic modernization, Stroock has launched its 2025 strategic plan with the announcement that legal industry leader Ralph Allen will join the firm October 1 in a newly created chief operating officer position.

“Ralph will play a key leadership role in helping to guide the firm through the next phase of our evolution,” said co-chair Jeff Keitelman.

“We ran an extensive national search to fill this critical role,” said co-chair Alan Klinger, “and we are confident Ralph has precisely the right mix of strategic vision and pragmatic know-how to drive our key initiatives.”

A seasoned legal industry COO, Allen has held executive management roles at Howrey, Squire Patton Boggs and other AmLaw firms. He is a frequent speaker on cutting-edge topics impacting the industry and is a recognized authority on modern law firm management best practices.

Allen’s onboarding fuels the momentum Stroock has built since it began an ambitious reimagining of the firm’s business model a few years ago. As part of its prior strategic plan, the firm made several lateral hires, expanded its practice mix and upgraded its technology and marketing functions with C-level leadership from Chief Information Officer Neeraj Rajpal and Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer Trish Lilley.

During the pandemic, Stroock continued its lateral hiring with more than 10 new attorneys coming aboard and the expansion of its practice mix to include a cadre of white collar litigators, a real estate focused hospitality practice and a deeper national bench in commercial leasing and distressed real estate.

With more than 30 years of experience in professional service organizations, Allen is a talented operations executive with significant experience in strategic planning, financial analysis and risk management and in overseeing IT, Marketing, Talent Management and Facilities teams.

At Stroock, Allen will oversee firm-wide business functions and operations. He will be a key leader in implementation of the firm’s 2025 strategic plan and in empowering both Stroock’s business professionals and attorneys to achieve firm goals.
