Through a partnership with the Lawyers Alliance for New York, Partner Trevor Adler and Associate Peter Marshall guided pro bono client Forestdale, Inc. through a lease negotiation for space to house a Family Enrichment Center in Queens, New York.
Since the successful completion of the lease negotiation, Forestdale has begun work with community partners and residents to envision how the space can best serve the neighborhood. Once open, the Family Enrichment Center will welcome community members of all ages to come together to participate in activities and support one another through times of transition, struggle, and joy.
Rachel Tzimorotas, General Counsel and Assistant Executive Director of Operations at Forestdale, said, “Peter and Trevor were terrific. They sunk their teeth into a long and unwieldy lease draft and crafted something that made sense for us. Not only did they lend their real estate and contract expertise for our benefit but they were sensitive to the time constraints that we were under. Overall they were a pleasure to work with.”
Forestdale has provided family services to New Yorkers in need for over 150 years. Originally founded in Brooklyn in 1854 as an education association and home for destitute children, the organization has expanded to Queens and continues to provide housing and social services for children and families, ensuring they have all the resources they need to thrive, creating a more equitable future for all.
