Vacant office buildings across lower Manhattan have been successfully transformed into thousands of top-of-the-line residential units. Recently, New York Mayor Eric Adams proposed zoning changes and tax incentives to continue these conversions.
In an article for Bloomberg, real estate partner Ross Moskowitz, who worked on Lower Manhattan rezoning legislation, joins others calling for another round of incentives, such as more relaxed Midtown zoning. Referring to this office to residence conversion as a “road map,” Ross says, “this is a real-life example of how government can work with the private sector and literally create a new neighborhood.”
