The Real Deal

In real estate litigation, things are heating up in the dispute between the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) and Compass. All REBNY members are subject to REBNY policies on brokers’ shared listings. Compass was fined $250,000 for violations of REBNY’s policy. Compass maintains that REBNY has applied these policies in a “discriminatory manner” which has affected its ability to recruit agents. 

Stroock Partner Claude Szyfer is representing REBNY. Quoted in The Real Deal, Szyfer argues  that “(s)tripped of its loose use of antitrust buzzwords, bluster, marketing puffery, and invective, [Compass’] complaint does not come close to alleging plausible claims.”
