“I would never advise a client to waive due diligence,” Partner Jimmy Fang tells Investor's Business Daily. Elon Musk, when signing the initial deal to buy Twitter in April, did just that — waiving the right to look deeply at the finances and internal workings of the social media giant, including examining Twitter user accounts to determine the number of “monetizable” daily active users versus bot users.
Musk seemingly made several tactical errors as he maneuvered to buy Twitter, Jimmy says. They come amid the backdrop of Musk holding the titles of chief executive of Tesla, SpaceX and other multibillion-dollar companies, spreading himself thin.
“It seems very much like he did this as an impulse purchase and is now rethinking his decision,” Jimmy adds.
