New York Law Journal

We are honored that Stroock partners Michele Jacobson and Karen Scanna have been named by the New York Law Journal as “New York Trailblazers” for their work in insurance and real estate law, respectively.

In Michele’s profile, she notes to expect more aggressive regulation from insurance departments in New York and other states. “There’s a feeling that the federal government isn’t taking enough actions to support and protect consumers. States are doing that themselves, and I think New York is leading the way.”

In her profile, the New York Law Journal highlights Karen’s work with Essex Crossing; Karen hopes this can be a prototype for how mixed-use developments are conceived and executed across the city. “What this development teaches people is that it’s much easier to get the communities and whatever other stakeholders before you go out with your plan.”
