New York Law Journal

By: Joel Cohen

For the New York Law Journal, Joel Cohen interviews author and professor of public and international affairs Thomas J. Main about Main's new book, “The Rise of Illiberalism,” how attorneys can play a role reconciling liberalism's penchant for tolerance with the growing influence of the Alt-Right and whether some belief systems are better left on the margins of public consciousness.

"The divine right of kings, terroristic anarchism, the defense of slavery, totalitarianism, theocracy and Plato’s guardians have all been marginalized, thank goodness. If today’s illiberalism joins these debunked ideologies in the junk yard of history, I would have no regrets," Main says.
