On June 12, 2019, the 2019 Charter Revision Commission (the “2019 Commission”) voted to approve a number of ballot proposals that center on elections and redistricting, the Civilian Complaint Review Board, governance, finance and land use.
In this Stroock Special Bulletin, we outline the ballot proposals related to land use.
(This article is the third in a series. The first appeared in January, providing an overview of the proposals the 2019 Commission had received. Click here to read the first installment. The second appeared in April, providing an overview of the various staff recommendations. Click here to read the second installment.)
The 2019 Commission approved the following ballot proposals related to land use:
Uniform Land Use Review Process (“ULURP”) Pre-Certification Notice Period
Additional ULURP Review Time for Community Boards
In voting to approve these ballot proposals, the 2019 Commission has also directed its staff to prepare a final report reflecting the work the 2019 Commission has undertaken during this process, and to draft specific ballot question language for the November 2019 general election.
In late July the 2019 Commission will adopt the final proposals and ballot question language, which will be submitted to the City Clerk. From August through October the 2019 Commission will embark on a public education campaign on the final proposals. On November 5, 2019, the public will vote on the final proposals.
Click here for a copy of the Draft Ballot Proposals.
The Stroock land use and environmental team will continue to monitor the 2019 Commission’s proposals and provide updates. In the interim, please let us know if you have any questions.
