Black History Month Spotlights

Stroock is a stronger firm due to the diversity of our community and we are heartened to share this special Stroock Spotlight during Black History Month.

Today's spotlight is on Special Counsel Shauneida Navarrete and why Black History Month is important to her. Shauneida states "Black History Month is important to me because it represents a period when all Americans can become more informed about the contributions Black people have made to the foundation of this nation. Over time, many Black stories have been erased from history. Black History Month allows for our stories to be shared so that they may not be forgotten. While the goal should be that Black history, which is American history, is taught and acknowledged year-round, we know that there is no assurance that will occur. So, the least we can do to preserve our history is to take this month to learn the stories of groundbreaking leaders such as Phyllis Wheatley, Shirley Chisholm, Sojourner Truth, Langston Hughes, Frederick Douglass, Thurgood Marshall, and Gordon Parks, to name a few."
