The Deal

Partner Chris Griner sees “ample room” for the $384.7 million purchase of Sherman Oaks, Calif.-based Petroteq Energy Inc. by a Canadian subsidiary of Switzerland’s Viston United Swiss AG to pass a review by the Council on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), he tells The Deal.

Despite its initial appearance as a run-of-the-mill transaction between allied nations, CFIUS raised concerns about the deal regarding American energy technologies and access to domestic power grids.
