Stroock’s rich tradition of training and mentoring is reflected in the many partners who started at Stroock as summer associates and have spent their entire careers here, and by others who have gone on to distinguished careers in the state and federal judiciary, the academic community or the business arena.

Stroock’s Mentoring Program helps first and second year associates plan and successfully launch their careers through one-on-one mentoring relationships.  Developed in tandem with the Firm’s diversity initiatives, the Mentoring Program pairings are keyed to each associate’s needs and reinforce the development of legal, core and business skills.
First and second year associates and junior level laterals are paired with two mentors – a mid-level associate and a partner – who offer guidance on day-to-day issues and longer-range career goals. Unique to Stroock, our associates are involved in choosing their mentors. This enables associates to pair with attorneys who can best assist them in their professional and career development. We also work with outside consultants, who provide mentees and mentors with ideas about how both can maximize their relationship, and mutually benefit from the experience.

For women and attorneys of color, the Mentoring Program is especially valuable in showcasing successful paths to practice proficiency, career planning, networking, as well as defining strategies to achieve personal and professional goals.

In order to take full advantage of the professional training and career development options available at Stroock, associates meet informally with their mentors to assess goals and identify opportunities.
