Scott Morvillo will chair the program, which review the fundamentals of conducting an effective and efficient investigation using real-world hypotheticals with insights on how to handle investigations successfully for your clients or company.

Ellen Murphy will be a panelist for "Conducting the Internal Investigation" session at 11:00AM EDT. This session will cover: 

A. Considerations, Processes and Procedures; Learn best practices for:

  • gathering documents
  • Interviewing employees – current and former
  • addressing employee issues and obligations: advice, rights and liability in light of recent cases
  • dealing with the auditors
  • dealing with international issues: attorney client privilege in other countries, document demands, language and cultural issues

B. Privilege Issues and Ethical Traps in Conducting the Investigation (1 hour ethics); Learn how to:

  • protect the investigation: Attorney client privilege and work product issues
  • identify representational issues
  • properly administer warnings to witnesses
  • respond to questions from interviewees
  • avoid obstruction issues
  • navigate ethical dilemmas that arise
