Stroock’s Real Estate Capital Markets practice focuses on helping public REITs access the capital markets so they can grow and thrive.

Our lawyers share the C-suite’s recognition that, to continue serving tenants and the communities in which they reside, REITs must endeavor to maintain a proverbial “fortress-like” balance sheet, whether that means raising additional equity capital, issuing or paying down debt, or introducing preferred share classes.

We live by a mission to help our clients raise capital to grow and capital to serve and draw upon our firm’s deep bench, Chambers-ranked practice group leaders and 100-plus years of experience in the Corporate, Real Estate and Tax areas to assist our clients.

Notably, our practice is exclusively issuer-side.  While we have in the past represented the underwriters in REIT offerings, the greater portion of our recent business, and our current area of concentration, involves taking the side of REITs in their transactions.  Accordingly, we know the REIT business, we like to think, almost like an insider – a posture that our clients know and appreciate – while at the same time providing the expert outside advice that our clients have relied on for over 100 years.
