The recent LES 2013 Annual Meeting featured a panel discussion titled “Special Techniques and Insights when Valuing Intellectual Property Transactions.” This session focused on valuation and pricing considerations for early-stage technologies in the pharmaceutical and high-tech industries. The panel discussed similarities and differences between the development stages in the pharmaceutical and high-tech industries, how valuation approaches change during the development process, and the unique valuation issues within each industry.
The panel discussion was moderated by Krista Holt, President and CEO of GreatBridge Consulting, and the panelists were Ian DiBernardo, partner at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, Marc Ehrlich , IBM Senior Counsel for Patent Enforcement, Chris Hoecke, CEO at Mallard Research, Jack Lu, Chief Economist and Senior Director Applied Economics Consulting Group, Gayle Mills Chief Business Officer at Symphogen and Allen Vaughn, Manager of IP Strategy and Licensing at Lockheed Martin. The panel’s dialogue was followed by a question and answer session with the audience.
