A Stroock team led by Claude Szyfer and including Dan Bertaccini, Kerry Cooperman, Nate Benfield, and TaLona Holbert successfully obtained a temporary restraining order against New York state’s prohibition on broker fees paid by tenants, a matter featured in a Crain’s New York Business article titled “Judge Puts Rental Fee Ban on Ice.”
Brought by Stroock on behalf of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) and the New York State Association of Realtors (NYSAR), the challenge means agencies can continue to collect broker fees from prospective tenants while the court reviews the issue.
