Stroock Secures "Top 100 Verdict" with $60.7 Million Win for PODS
New York, NY, March 30, 2015 -- Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, a national law firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Washington, DC, announced that it has been recognized in The National Law Journal's 2014 "Top 100 Verdicts" for securing a $60.7 million verdict for PODS Enterprises, Inc. in a patent infringement dispute against U-Haul International Inc. The matter ranked 33rd overall.
Stroock successfully represented storage company PODS Enterprises, Inc. ("PODS") in a trademark infringement action relating to portable moving and storage containers against U-Haul International Inc., which used the term "pods" repeatedly on its website to draw customers to its own “U-Box” home storage program. The jury ruled in favor of Stroock’s client PODS on all counts in the trial and determined that it suffered $45 million in damages and that U-Haul was unjustly enriched by $15.7 million.
PODS is represented by Stroock partners Charles E. Cantine and Joseph Diamante, special counsel Jason M. Sobel and associate Michael Fernandez.
The National Law Journal (NLJ) ranks the top 100 verdicts of the previous year based on the amount of the jury verdict award. NLJ affiliate, VerdictSearch, provides findings based on surveys of the nation’s courts, reports from attorneys and reporting by ALM Media LLC publications to compile the list.
