Stroock Names New Special Counsel
New York, NY, Jan. 17, 2012…Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, a national law firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami, recently named ten new Special Counsel.

The new Special Counsel are:
Allan S. Cohen, (Special Counsel – Litigation, Los Angeles) Mr. Cohen concentrates on complex business litigation and insurance matters. He has represented financial institutions, insurance companies, entertainment companies and manufacturing companies in a range of matters, including trials in federal and state courts and before arbitration panels. These matters have involved issues such as misrepresentation under California securities law, the duties of a credit card issuer to its customers, the duties of an insurance company in connection with unreasonable arbitration awards and the contractual obligations of a medical device company. Mr. Cohen received his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law, his M.B.A. from Boston College and his B.A., cum laude, from New York University.
Francis C. Healy, (Special Counsel – Litigation, New York) Mr. Healy focuses on complex commercial litigation, including commodities, derivatives, bankruptcy, and reinsurance, and has represented financial institutions, hedge funds, trading firms, and insurance companies in state and federal courts, arbitration proceedings, and investigations before regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from St. John’s University, and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Scranton.
Marissa J. Holob, (Special Counsel – Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation, New York) Ms. Holob provides guidance to clients on a wide variety of matters in the areas of employee benefits and executive compensation. She regularly represents public and private companies, as well as tax-exempt entities, in the design, implementation, administration and compliance of qualified pension plans, profit sharing plans, equity and incentive plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans and other employee compensation arrangements. Ms. Holob also has significant experience advising clients on the employee benefits and executive compensation related issues in bankruptcies, reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions. She also counsels hedge funds and private equity clients on issues relating to the application of rules under ERISA’s “plan asset” regulations. Ms. Holob received her J.D., cum laude, from Cornell University, her B.A. from Brown University and clerked for the Honorable Donald Pogue of the United States Court of International Trade.
Dina Kolker, (Special Counsel – Litigation, New York) Ms. Kolker focuses primarily on public sector labor relations and commercial litigation, working with some of New York City’s largest public employee unions. She also has experience with complex commercial litigation on behalf of commercial and labor clients. Ms. Kolker has represented clients in negotiations, arbitrations, administrative proceedings and litigation in a variety of areas in both state and federal court, including labor, employment, contract, pension issues, and constitutional rights. She has been involved in various collective bargaining-related matters, including binding and non-binding contract arbitration pursuant to the Taylor Law and related court proceedings. Ms. Kolker also contributes to Stroock’s Public Employee Law Reports bulletins. She received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania, and her B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.
John J. Lucas, (Special Counsel – Entertainment Litigation, Los Angeles) Mr. Lucas has significant litigation experience in both state and federal court, as well as in the arbitration context, and has represented both individuals and corporations in a variety of business and commercial disputes. He has had extensive trial experience in a variety of subjects, with a specific emphasis in entertainment and media litigation. Mr. Lucas represents talent, studios, television networks and independent entertainment production companies involved in the media, entertainment and Internet industries. He received his J.D. from Loyola Law School Los Angeles, and his B.A. from the University of Michigan.
Glen G. Mastroberte, (Special Counsel – Entertainment, Los Angeles) Mr. Mastroberte has a wide-ranging transactional entertainment practice representing producers, directors, writers, actors, production companies, distribution companies, film funds, financial institutions, and equity investors in all aspects of motion picture and television transactions at both the studio and independent level. His practice includes work in all phases of development, finance, production, and distribution. He also has extensive experience structuring film funds and negotiating merger and acquisition transactions within the entertainment industry. Mr. Mastroberte received his J.D., Order of the Coif, from the University of California, Los Angeles, his Masters in Finance from London Business School, and his B.S., magna cum laude, from the University of Arizona. He was recently selected to Variety’s “2011 Hollywood Law: Up Next” list of the top up-and-coming entertainment attorneys.
Quinlan D. Murphy, (Special Counsel – Litigation, New York) Mr. Murphy concentrates his work on derivatives, commodities, securities, energy, and other complex commercial litigation. He also has significant experience in bankruptcy-related litigation, including fraudulent transfer and preference actions. His practice focuses on the representation of financial institutions, including banks, trading firms, funds, and accounting firms, and frequently involves the representation of international institutions both in the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Murphy regularly appears on behalf of clients in state and federal trial and appellate courts, arbitration proceedings, and regulatory investigations. He served as a law clerk in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York, received his J.D. from Fordham University, and received his B.A. from Union College.
Ira K. Teicher, (Special Counsel – Real Estate, Miami) Mr. Teicher has wide-ranging experience in complex commercial real estate transactions. He has represented lenders, developers, and both institutional and non-institutional investors in connection with the acquisition, financing, development, disposition, leasing and management of office, retail, industrial and multifamily properties throughout the United States. Mr. Teicher received his J.D. from Columbia University, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and his B.A., magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Columbia College.
Danielle Alfonzo Walsman, (Special Counsel – Litigation, New York) Ms. Alfonzo Walsman focuses on white-collar criminal defense, securities and general commercial litigation, and also regularly assists clients in conducting internal investigations of a wide range of conduct, including criminal and regulatory allegations and unfair employment practices. She has also counseled clients in a number of matters before the New York Department of Financial Services (formerly the New York Department of Insurance). Ms. Alfonzo Walsman received her J.D. from Columbia University, and her B.A., cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
