Stroock Front and Center in NY’s Biggest Real Estate News
Stroock is leading the charge on the hottest real estate topic in New York – litigation over the state’s recent bid to prohibit a landlord’s agent from collecting a broker’s fee from a prospective tenant.
After state regulators announced the proposed ban as part of their interpretation of the recently passed rent law on Feb. 4, Stroock brought a lawsuit challenging the policy.
On Monday, a New York state judge granted a temporary restraining order halting the ban. The issue has made headlines throughout the New York and national media as the case plays out.
The presidents of REBNY and the New York State Association of Realtors issued a joint statement after the ruling, thanking “Claude Szyfer and his team at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP for their tireless efforts on this matter.”
The Stroock team includes Claude Szyfer, Daniel Bertaccini, Kerry Cooperman, Nathaniel Benfield and TaLona Holbert.
