Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, a leading national law firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami, announced today that New York’s Governor David Paterson issued an Executive Order renaming the Justice Building on the Mall in Albany as the Robert Abrams Building for Law and Justice to honor Mr. Abrams’ career in public service.
Prior to joining Stroock to head its Government Relations Practice in 1994, Mr. Abrams was elected to three terms to the State Assembly, three terms as Bronx Borough President and four terms as Attorney General of New York State. At its June 2005 meeting, NAAG presented Bob with The Bellotti Award, given to a former attorney general who “has served NAAG and worked diligently to further its vision and mission and who exhibits outstanding leadership abilities and high moral character.”
Mr. Abrams noted, “Serving the people of New York for 28 years was not only a great honor but provided enormous challenge and fulfillment. My family and I are truly grateful for the action taken by Governor Paterson.”
Stroock’s co-Managing Partner Stuart Coleman added, “This honor reflects the magnificent multi-decade career of Bob Abrams serving and protecting the citizens of the state of New York.”
