New York, April 1, 2019 — Alex Cota, a partner in the debt finance group of Stroock’s Financial Restructuring Department, has been honored by Private Debt Investor as a “Rising Star.” Alex joins 29 other trailblazers on PDI’s inaugural global list.
The Rising Star awards recognize global financial professionals under 40 for career achievements in the private credit markets.
Alex has played a lead role in some of the industry’s most creative and complex secured debt transactions (including DIP and exit financings). He was recently involved in representing the private credit arm of an international investment bank in the acquisition financing extended to a private equity firm to finance their purchase of certain refining assets from a multinational energy company, a leading international private credit fund in a club-deal credit facility to a company in the print space, the Cenveo chapter 11 case, where he represented several private credit funds, and advising the private credit arm of a multinational investment bank in a first of its kind debtor-in-possession working capital facility in connection with the bankruptcy of one of the largest oil refineries in the country.
Alex regularly advises his clients in all levels of the capital structure, both lender-side and borrower-side, including, in connection with FILO credit facilities, senior and subordinated revolving and term loan credit facilities, high-yield bond issuances, split-collateral deals, first/second lien deals, asset-based financings, club deals, loan workouts and restructurings. Some of his clients include business development companies, private credit funds, banks, sponsors, hedge funds and other alternative capital providers and he has counseled them with respect to financings in a wide array of industries including energy, gaming, retail, media, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing, among others.
