New York Law Journal

By: Joel Cohen

In a article entitled “Has ‘The Game’ Changed?” Stroock senior counsel Joel Cohen discusses civility, first in the context of Hall of Famer Chicago White Sox Manager Tony La Russa’s reprimand of player Yermin Mercedes for unsportsmanlike behavior, and then in the context of lawyers in and out of court. Cohen questions whether the old school rules of decency and civility have been replaced with a win-at-all-cost strategy. He shares the perspective of Honorable Rolando Acosta, a former college baseball player, who believes the bench and the bar must lead the way in preventing the further erosion of civility in our society.
