New York, NY, July 6, 2017 Kevin Matz, a partner in Stroock’s Private Client Services Group, has been appointed to the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants’ (NYSSCPA) Foundation for Accounting Education’s (FAE) Board of Trustees as president-elect.  His term began June 1.
Mr. Matz has served on the NYSSCPA Board of Directors from 2013–2017 and has served on the FAE Board of Trustees since 2015.  He is the current chair of the NYSSCPA Estate Planning committee and the FAE Curriculum committee, and previously chaired the NYSSCPA Estate Planning Conference and the NYSSCPA Entertainment, Arts and Sports committee.  Mr. Matz is also concurrently a co-chair of the Taxation Committee of the New York State Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates Section.
Mr. Matz is one of the New York area’s leading trust and estate lawyers for high net-worth individuals and families.  His practice focuses on domestic and international estate and tax planning, estate administration and related litigation.  Mr. Matz advises high net-worth clients on matters related to asset transfer planning; preparation of wills and trusts; gift, estate, income and generation-skipping transfer tax planning and tax return preparation; charitable gift planning; probate proceedings and estate administration; and litigation as well as corporate counseling.  He is also a certified public accountant.
Mr. Matz is moreover a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), and has written and spoken extensively about the use of family limited partnerships and various other leveraged transfer techniques, as well as estate planning strategies for groups ranging from private equity fund managers to professional athletes.  He has also been frequently cited in professional literature (including at the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning) for his innovative solutions and analysis.
