In a recent Bloomberg Law Daily Labor Report article titled “Virus-Induced Fever Checks Pose Wage Dilemma for Businesses,” Stroock’s Howard Lavin weighs in on employee compensation for employer-mandated temperature checks as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Howard notes that it is difficult to predict if workers would be entitled to wages for time spent doing temperature checks and that payment would be determined on whether or not the checks are “integral and indispensable to the employees’ principal activities.”
