Election lawyer Jerry Goldfeder and Frederick Davie of Union Theological Seminary recount the death of Maceo Snipes, a Black veteran who was shot and killed after voting in the 1946 Georgia Democratic primary, in a recent article for USA Today

The authors cite the killing, as well as the legacy of the late Rep. John Lewis, in calling for the enactment of voting rights measures.
