Maria is a leading expert on the use of sanctions as a tool of statecraft and has published extensively on the current round of Russia sanctions.  She is currently the Diamond-Brown Research Fellow for Economic Sanctions, Standards and Strategy at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
