Is high tech a driving force in today's New York economy and for the foreseeable future? Please join us as Stroock hosts another Government Leadership forum featuring four experts focused on NYC's rapidly expanding technology ecosystem and the role it plays in expanding the NYC job base. William Floyd, Head of External Affairs at Google, Maya Wiley, Counsel to Mayor de Blasio with a special focus on investing in the City’s technology and infrastructure and expanding broadband access across the City, Andrew Essex, Vice Chairman of Droga5 and Andrew Rasiej, Chairman of NY Tech Meetup, will discuss their views on technology and the economy of New York City.
Robert Abrams, former New York State Attorney General and Chair of Stroock's Government Relations Practice and Ross F. Moskowitz, Stroock Partner and member of the firm's Executive Committee, will moderate this panel discussion. Jerry H. Goldfeder, Stroock Special Counsel and Election Law attorney, will introduce the program.
William Floyd is Head of External Affairs at Google. Floyd is a public policy professional, issues management strategist and lobbyist with nearly 30 years experience working in government, private and non profit sectors. Currently he is responsible for managing the company's outward facing presence in New York.
Maya Wiley is Counsel to Mayor Bill de Blasio. Wiley is a civil rights attorney and co-founder of the Center for Social Inclusion. In addition to serving in the traditional role of the counsel, Wiley will also focus on investing in the City's technology infrastructure and expanding broadband access across the City.
Andrew Essex is the Vice Chairman of Droga5. Before co-founding the agency in 2006, Essex was a publishing executive, with senior positions at several top magazines, including The New Yorker, Details and Entertainment Weekly, among others.
Andrew Rasiej is the Chairman of the NY Tech Meetup, a 41,000+-member organization of technologists, venture funders, marketers, and other professionals representing start-up and more mature companies using technology to transform business and themselves, New York City, and the world. He is the Founder of MOUSE.org which focuses on 21st century public education, Co-Founder of Mideastwire.com, which translates Arabic and Farsi news and opinion pieces into English, and Senior Technology Advisor to the Sunlight Foundation a Washington DC organization using technology to make government more transparent.
