The interactive discussion will focus on the ethical and legal issues relating to how far lawyers can legally and ethically go in using the media to advance their clients’ causes – in terms of prejudicing trial rights, the issue of truthfulness, evidentiary consequences, and potential criminal and liability on the part of lawyers. It will also address the ethical issues facing journalists for being “used” by lawyers on both sides of cases. The discussion will also address the legal and ethical ramifications of blogging, inaccurate press reports and related issues.

The moderator will ask the panelists questions about the ethics of the lawyers’ behavior in a number of high-profile, controversial cases. Questions will be taken from the attendees.
