This seminar will be a practical review of recent developments in California law as they pertain to the defense of complex litigation. Specific topics will include:
-Important recent decisions construing the UCL and the CLRA;
-The impact of the Class Action Fairness Act on matters filed in California state and federal courts;
-The state of the law in the Ninth Circuit on jury trial waivers and consumer arbitration;
-The impact of California law on the financial service and insurance industries; and
-Important information and technology issues in California litigation practice, including the impact of the new Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
